Neurologic music therapy (NMT) is the therapeutic application of music for cognitive  and sensorimotor functional training as well as training for speech and language for neurological patients

NMT is a research based methodology. Treatment techniques are derived from scientific knowledge of music perception and production and its influence on non-musical brain and behavior functions.

The application spectrum of NMT covers: stroke, traumatic brain injury, parkinson's disease, cerebral palsy, M. Alzheimer, autism, and other neurological pathologies, that affect cognition, movement or communication (e.g. multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy etc.).

NMT is practiced by certified music therapists. The official register is found on the web site of the RF Unkefer Academy for Neurologic Music Therapy.
