Neurologic Music Therapy® (NMT™) is the therapeutic application of music in cognitive, and sensorimotor functional training - as with the training of speech and language for neurological patients.
NMT™ is a research-based treatment methodology. The treatment techniques are based on current scientific knowledge about music perception and production and their impact on non-musical brain and behavioral functions.
The indication spectrum of NMT™ includes: Stroke, Traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's and Corea Huntington, infantile cerebral palsy, M. Alzheimer's, autism and other neurological diseases which cognition, Movement and communication impair (e.g. multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, etc.).
NMT™ is applied by certified music therapists who are trained in a register the RF Unkefer Academy for Neurologic Music Therapy™. NMT™ is recognized as a scientific method by the World Federation of Neurologic Rehabilitation (WFNR).
