Neurological Music Therapy (NMT) is the therapeutic application of music cognitive, and sensorimotor functional training - as with the training of speech and language for neurological patients.
NMT is a research-based treatment methodology. Treatment techniques are based on scientific knowledge of music perception and production and their impact on non-musical brain and behavioral functions.
The indication spectrum of NMT includes: Stroke, Traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's and Corea Huntington, infantile cerebral palsy, M. Alzheimer's, autism and other neurological diseases which cognition, Movement and communication impair (e.g. multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, etc.).
NMT is used by certified music therapists. These are in one register the RF Unkefer Academy for Neurologic Music Therapy guided. NMT is recognized as a scientific method by the World Federation of Neurologic Rehabilitation (WFNR).
